Based on a Niva floor pan, most came equipped with multipoint injection and Microtech computer.
To the optomist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the Engineer, the glass is twice the size it has to be.

does it go any better with the multi point injection, and microtec computer? I have been able to come accross these myself, but the engine has a blown exhaust valve on number 3, so needs engine rebuild, wondering if it'd be worth it....

Yeah the improvement is quite good apparently.I've never driven one. Oops, I told a lie. The computers are not made by Microtec but by Haltech. There still base maps around. Better flowing than the Russian EFI, you're not losing vital bottom end to gain a bit of top end. Too damn easy to turbo I reckon.

Known as the Cabrio Here in Aus.

Heres a Pic of a Lada Taiga Tray back. Leaf Spring rear. Andy May chime in and have a bit to say about them, But apparently no where near as good off-road ability as the coil sprung rear Wagon bodies.

Yeah I'd lurve to build a traytop!

Whether it happens or not is another thing altogether.

Now that I got The Boy and his damn Lancia Lada outta what's left of my hair, I might be able to start thinking about my own stuff again.

I'd just like to see pix of the underside, and where chassis meets monocoque.

"Chassis meets monocoque" Sounds like a Naughty porno!!

Maybe Toxicbugman might have some pictures? Bit of a big ask though.

Yeah I heard your son got a twin cam niva from one of the Difflock forum members, How does the Fiat engine go off-road?

- As for your own car, the 33's, How do they handle on and off-road? What size lift do you have? Do they rub at all? Thanks Eddy matee..

Frankly I wouldn't bother! Brilliant on road, but once into the rough stuff there's just so little noticeable difference. And in fact, out on the local "rally track" in the Parts Car I had to back off & let him catch up.
Plus there's one BIIIGG achilles heel ... the camshaft drive belts are only partly covered by a plastic shroud. IMO in deep muddy water crossings, they're just begging for a bit of floating crap (stick or something) to catch in there and do some damage to the belt, if not break it. We figure we could make a backing plate to amost completely enclose it, but ...

Scott.
On road they're ok, but rubbed badly in the comps. I'm now giving it a few more inches lift. Handling is frikkin awsome! Even on winding road. Not in the same league as a road tyre of course, but for a 25 year old ummm "SUV" it's great.

Hmmm ... getting off topic a bit here ... might split this thread up later ...  ... once I remember how ... ...
