BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires

Postby madklaus on Tue May 26, 2009 4:35 am

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and looking for advice in a "small" problem...

I just bought a set of BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires (215/75/15) for my Niva and the problem is that the tires touch the inner wheelarches when I go uphill or over bigger bumps.

I'm afraid destroying the tires :( so I was thinking of putting on some wheelspacers (4 cm) and a lift kit.

Any advice?

E gad! thats the same size tyres I have sussed out for my Niva,
Maybe the overall dia is too big? maybe the suspension is extra sagged? incorrect rims/offset?
Put in a few minutes on Baxters tyre calculator and see what you come up with

Stranger "What sort of car is that?"
Me "Its a Niva"
Stranger "Is it reliable?"
Me "As reliable as an AK-47!!!"

lada nz used to state no larger than 205/70
lada australia supplied the bushman with 195x15

start to go too big & you'll find the wheel on the outside of your guard

I am running 30" x 9.5 x 15 tyres and I just trimmed the front and back of the arches at the bottoms. it is not lifted so if you lift it gives a bit more clearance., However I am going to go up to 31" x10.5 x 15 extreme tyres but am going to trim the gaurds and fit flexi flares for that. might need a bit of inner wheel arch trimming as well.
