My present engine is fine, all comps are 150-155, its just my valve seals are worn/hard and I dont seem to be able to get just a head(to work on) so it looks like a complete engine might the way to go to obtain a head.
Not 100% yet though.
This engine here would easily be 130km if not 230

why would you want another head to replace seals??

just replace seals on the head you have, don't even have to take it off the car.....

Agree with Andy
There are places where you can go that will do this professionally for you.
Its better to get them to do it for cases like this. I got mine sandblasted, valves seats resurfaced, head resurfaced etc all for $350 over here in Perth. Its like brand new after that. Some before and after pics for your viewing pleasure. :D [url=http://www.imageposter.com/uploads/get/692069]Image

Not to contradict Andy. What I meant above was, even if you wanna do more than just the valve seals, you dont need a new head, just recondition your original head. (I mean the cylinder head...lol)

You guys are right, I want another one to leave at our local engine reconditioners (friends through racing) so they can give it the once over (a training aid of sorts) and I just whack the swanky one on when finished, a sort of exchange if you will.
I wouldn't whack an un overhauled one on, I've already got one of them on.
My mates have already quoted $200 and a carton of beer for the work which they'll do in their spare time.
They have done a few heads for me before and arnt afraid to think outside the square

Oh yeah and one of the guys is a closet FIAT lover and has abit of old fiat knowledge/experience.

But at the end of the day they are rocket heads with a huge premises full of hightec equipment which I want them to use on my Niva head and charge me a couple of hundred bucks!!!

you might have to grin & bear it for a week, remove your own head, you're going to have to swap it over anyway........

but if it's only valve guide seals worrying you, head wont have to be removed to replace those......& basically other than shaving the head, theres not much more they can do,other than port matching, which they can still do on the car.........
