I have a '98 Bushman which comes standard with mag wheels which makes steering in and out of parking spots very difficult, in fact my daughter is not strong enough in the arms to handle it. Any solutions out there ?

pump up your tyres, and check wheel alignment, particularly castor angle

yep, mags on bushman are correct offset,so that wont make any difference...

as eddy said......

tread type can make difference, even tyre width (bushman came with 195x15 tyres) and make sure steer box fill of grease....

G'day fellow mate from WA!

That makes 4 of us now, Mate what size tyres are you running? I use 175/75/16's for the street and turning is a sinch. If you would like to give mine or another set of mine a test your more than welcome, I've got plenty of wheels and tyres. If you've done what the lads suggest and still got troubles let me know. Is the Niva yours mate or the Daughters? Would be keen to catch up.

Scott.

Woohooo One more from WA!

You can try one of those electrical power steering solutions.
It kicks in at low speeds. Of coz the other alternative is to tell your daughter to do a few push ups every now and then..=P

For me I rather keep it the way it is coz it gives me a better feel of the steering, and prevents me from overstressing the steering joints.

My local tyre chap has checked and reckons the tyres are the problem 215/75R15 which is a pity because the rims are really flash.......Roh polished aluminium, chromed wheel nuts and the Niva logo in the centre. My daughter no longer needs to use the Niva so I'll think about it for a while..................cheers

hi jangut, Was just surfing the net for niva stuff (its become a bad habit for me) when i remember i came across this website before from italy that sells power steering kits and other stuff. Not sure if they are still selling them. I know some others use the Toyota Cressida power steering also. Anyway just a thought. Cheers
