not bad mate, looks like it's in pretty good nick, even if the engine bay is a birds nest :) It could be a whole lot worse...

:D Hi Bert,
Boris' engine bay doesn't look too bad to me, it could actually be a lot worse than it is. Is the engine a Lancia?

Cheers,
Ross.

Yeah a 2L Lancia, goes like a rocket and should go better now I know what was pressurizing the sump...makes a hell of a mess when it does that and you can only see the motor in that shot, it's all the crap hanging off the inner guards that's the problem....old voltage regs, anti pollution gear thats not needed no more, a relay I really have no idea for and lots of wires. Did I mention copious amounts of oil???? 8 litres of degreaser and a couple of petrol and I'm still getting the crud off

Finally got all the bits and pieces apart from a can of bog, decided to tackle the dent in the front and the couple of spots the rust moths had a go at while waiting for the other stuff....now all I have to do is get the time to bolt it all back together :?

Well got the dent fixed, egay steering wheel rubbed back, primed and painted matt black, came up quite well, the donk is back together apart from the cam belt...have to track down a 38mm socket so I can get the crankshaft pully off. The joys of a Lada as I'm finding....always something :?

It's a Lancia alright and it's got a ruddy great 38mm nut on the end of the crankshaft, not original then?, managed to borrow a set of sockets of a bloke at work so will hopefully get the beastie fired up at the weekend after the trip to Hobart and the 300 metre concrete pour

Finally tracked down a socket to fit the crank nut and got it off, cam belt went on like a dream, no dramas at all or so me thought, did the obligatory 2 revolutions of the crank and sweet, all the timing marks are where they are supposed to be...wrench on the tensioner bolt, quarter turn and uhoh  fekkin bolt breaks    (with steam coming out of ears) and allsorts of expletives...so it's of to the friendly Fiat/Lancia repair man to procure a new one It could of been worse, could of broke after I fired it up. So spent last couple of days tinkering with electrics and working on where to run various hoses. Hopefully will be a goer NEXT weeekend :)

The best laid plans of mice and men, finally have all the bits and pieces and a weekend off so I planned to fabricate a bracket to connect the throttle cable, get the cam belt tensioned, thermo fans installed and all the plumbing done, first 2 and last will definately be done but the fans??? need a couple of relays and inline fuse holders and knocked off work too late too get to the place where I get that sort of stuff so I heads to the nearest Dick Smiths and as per usual can't find what I'm looking for and get a vacant look from the ever so helpful staff when I ask. Should get him fired up just won't be able to drive....bugga. At least I now have the cd player and UHF in
