australian lada niva forum

Hi all,

Got a '96 1.7 carby in red a few weeks ago. She has an LPG conversion, BWA mags and the usual minor electrical faults.

She was in good condition but I've had the brakes fixed up (new flexible lines) and given her a good clean and polish.

Finally got to take her offroad yesterday on the power lines track at Mundaring and I was amazed at how good these cars are. The Niva will just cruise up some serious terrain with ease. I only used the centre diff lock once on a really rocky bit, this car is bloody awesome!

Even the wife had to admit it was pretty good.

If any of the Perth mob on here want to go for a run sometime I'd be up for that.

Looks like a nice little Niva, yes you will find that this little beast will continue to surprise you, and whats even more fun, is it will blow everyone else away, they may laugh at first saying it's the worst purchase you could have made, but just wait till they see it offroad

Have fun, if I was over that side of the country I'd be there in an instant, looking forward to getting together with a few other niva's and going nuts.

I'm from Perth also, At the moment I own 2 Niva's 1 which is getting body work due to a roll and swapped head. and the other ones in for a total restore. I've got another one joining the family soon and will be up for a wheel when you are mate.

You will be continually amazed by what the Niva is capable of, and the more you learn about them I'm sure the more you'll fall in love! - I know I have, I'm on #6 now.

Yeah. Looking for aftermarket parts from UK or any wrecked niva, go to Lada Malaga; looking for parts from Italy, Cileberti Motors in Osb. Park. Looking for good o gen stuff - Talk to the Man in QLD: Andy. Gotten all gen stuff for my engine rebuild. Some things are definitely worth getting original. Trust me. Nice niva you have there mate. Must say you've got good taste for the colour.=P hehe.
