Hi Andy, yes mine is an internally regulated Australian Bosch and I've had no troubles with it. It was on the car when I bought it so I left it there as Aussie Bosches are what I know best. I believe the standard Lada alternator is just a Russian licence produced European Bosch anyway so they should be also very reliable. Bob, the RE55 is a very reliable solid state regulator (no points or other moving parts to wear or burn) and they give very little trouble. Now, does the battery light come on with the ignition on and engine off? It should. If it doesn't, if you take the DF terminal off the regulator and earth it to a good earth somewhere near there, perhaps clip it to something so you can see if the light is on. If it is the most likely cause is worn out brushes or an open circuit field, more likely brushes; if it isn't check the battery light globe on the instrument panel or the fuse, I'd check the fuse first as this isthe easiest to check and change. All the best with the diagnosis.
Cheers,
Ross.
