If my Nivas tank is full or near full fuel runs out of the fuel tank! firstly I thought the new cap wasn't on far enough so I lubed the threads and got a bit more turning out of it but it still leaks.
I parked with the driver side wheels in the gutter for a while today and upon return EGAD! fuel everywhere!
Hot days and unlevel ground are the worst,
I will muck around abit more with the cap tomorrow
Anyone got any bright ideas?

Wont be your cap take the floor cover of and replace the hoses connecting your filler tube to the tank

I'll do that investaagtion tomorrow

Note to self, when the petrol bowser clicks off indicating the tank is full dont squeeze in a few more litres!!!!
I will check that hose over the next few months

was it hard, brittle and cracked?

Checked them 83, the main(large) one was tight and unperished and the smaller one had loose clamps,
I tightened the clamps and fulled it up with juice, I'll keep you posted

It is coming out of the fuel cap threads, so I'm thinking a blocked vent line and when the fuel or air in the tank expands it has to come out the cap!
Next weeks job!!!!!!!

The vent system which feeds from the tank to the charcoal canister dosent seem to be getting any negative pressure down steam of the canister,
I have had a hardcore read of the online manuals and done a bit of line rerouteing so I'll give it a whirl for a while and see.

On a positive note my vacum advance is now working!!!!! and I found where my mystery vacum port should be connected to!! (previous post)
now to see if my tank vents and the fuel stays in.

check the roll over valve is working (bigger black plastic valve)

if thats on the wrong angle,valve will shut,system wont breath properly.....

I have just looked at a picture in the manual showing it (gravity valve) in the RHS wheel well, I checked that valve and I could suck/blow through it, it wasnt black

it was the closest valve to the front in the rhs wheel well....if you can blow through,should be okay......

may need to fit a expansion tank in there (some of the 1600's,this was the only way to fix the problem)......
lada had stainless steel ones made for the job.

It seems to be all working OK now, no fuel out the cap, no fumes and it accellerates a bit better too!!!
But now I have the carb upper housing vent just blanked, I'll try and plumb this in too

must've needed a good blow bob
