Hi all,
Just to prevent the hijacking of my post about the restoring off my Niva, and because one thinks that this subject will be of more interest to more people, here in Portugal is common to adapt Suzuki Vitara Power Steering on Nivas, note that over here we have LHD cars but the principle should be the same for RHD cars, if the donor and the Niva are RHD cars, parts needed :
* Power Steering Box
* Hydraulic Pump
* Steering Column of the Vitara (at least the end part)
* Arm of the Vitara Steering Box
It is needed to enlarge the hole where the old steering box fits in so that the Vitara steering box enters a litle bit inside the car, the Niva steering column will be short, as so if You have the steering column of the Vitara it will help You out to resolve thar part, as for the arm, it will also be easy if one has the Vitara Steering arm, that way, it is possible to cut them at haf and then weld them, one parts fits the Steering Box, the other on the steering arm, as for the pump, if You could get the one that was on Vitaras it's great, but almost any will do the job.
Photos that I have collected in the Internet about this mod and some other stuff that I've collected when I installed the Power Steering on my Niva :
